8/17/2023 0 Comments Cat tail quiver meaningBelieve me this smell is horrifying, so get your kitty neutered as soon as you can! This means they’re about to spray urine over everything you love in an attempt to mark it with their scent. However, it can be bad news if your Siamese is un-neutered. If they add in little tappy toes, they’re absolutely ecstatic you’re home. If you come home and your cat greats you with a shaky tail, this means they are excited to see you. It is good in the sense that an upright tail in a quivering motion can indicate they’re happy to see you. Unless what they’re about to catch will hurt them, don’t interfere and let your Siamese carry out their act of nature. Slowing swishing their tail often means they’re focused on something, whether that be a toy, food, item, or another animal. This usually indicates that they’re in predatory mode. This movement is a confident one, and they’re inviting you or other animals for some playtime or love. If your Siamese has their tail high in the sky and slowly swishing or wagging their tail, all signs point to happiness. If your Siamese is chilling out and wagging their tail at the same time, chances are they’re telling you to back off.įlicking their tail while laying down is an indication of annoyance, either by you or another animal invading their space. If you want my advice, leave your kitty alone! They use their tail to create distance between them and the annoyance, and this movement is often paired with turned-back ears and a lowered posture. This indicates that they’re angry, annoyed, or ready to attack. If your Siamese is holding their tail rigid and wagging it back and forth rapidly, it’s time to take a step back. If their tail is swishing back and forth in a relaxed manner and their body language is more mellow, chances are they are taking in their environment and feeling content. If their tail is wagging low and their body is slumped, there is a chance they are feeling scared. There are two emotions your Siamese could be feeling when they are wagging their tail in a low position. Here is a rundown of the individual movements and what they mean. ![]() They communicate not just by the position of their tail but how it moves.Īs a general rule, happy cats will make the distance between their tail and their owner small, whereas angry or frightened cats will puff up their tail in an attempt to put some space between them. While observing their tails may not be a big enough indication of their mood, it is one of the more expressive parts of their body. So, cats use a mixture of elements to paint a full picture of their feelings. If your Siamese is hissing at you, it’ll give you more indication that they’re angry compared to a swish of the tail. ![]() Scientists of the 18th and early 19th centuries studied compounds obtained from plants and animals and labeled them organic because they were isolated from “organized” (living) systems. Recognize the composition and properties typical of organic and inorganic compounds.Later in this chapter we will examine hydrocarbons with double bonds, with triple bonds, and with a special kind of bonding called aromaticity. There are several other kinds of hydrocarbons, distinguished by the types of bonding between carbon atoms and by the properties that result from that bonding. We begin our study of organic chemistry with the alkanes, compounds containing only two elements, carbon and hydrogen, and having only single bonds. Water and aqueous solutions such as urine will not dissolve such a film, which explains why petroleum jelly protects a baby’s tender skin from diaper rash. Such alkane mixtures as mineral oil and petroleum jelly can be applied as a protective film. Liquid alkanes with approximately 5–16 carbon atoms per molecule wash away natural skin oils and cause drying and chapping of the skin, while heavier liquid alkanes (those with approximately 17 or more carbon atoms per molecule) act as emollients (skin softeners). (There is no home-treatment antidote for gasoline poisoning call a poison control center.) ![]() People who swallow gasoline or other liquid alkane mixtures should not be made to vomit, as this would increase the chance of getting alkanes into the lungs. The lungs become unable to expel fluids, just as in pneumonia caused by bacteria or viruses. In the lungs, however, they cause “chemical” pneumonia by dissolving fatlike molecules from cell membranes in the tiny air sacs (alveoli). Swallowed, liquid alkanes do little harm while in the stomach. Inhaling (“sniffing”) these hydrocarbons in gasoline or aerosol propellants for their intoxicating effect is a major health problem that can lead to liver, kidney, or brain damage or to immediate death by asphyxiation by excluding oxygen. Alkanes of low molar mass-those with from 1 to approximately 10 or so carbon atoms-are gases or light liquids that act as anesthetics. These effects depend on the size of the hydrocarbon molecules and where on or in the body they are applied. Hydrocarbons are the simplest organic compounds, but they have interesting physiological effects.
